Digsby Build 50 als Alpha verfügbar

Digsby liegt in einer neue Version vor. Digsby ist ein Multimessenger, d.h. man kann mit einer einzigen Software bei ICQ, Google Talk, Facebook und MSN online sein. Hierfür muss benötigt nur einen Account bei den unterstützten Dienste. Bevor man Digsby, das noch in der Beta Phase ist, nutzen kann, muss man einen Account bei Digsby erstellen. Hierin werden alle Accountinfos gespeichert. Es ist übrigens egal auf welchem PC ihr Digsby nutzt. Da eure Einstellungen online gesichert werden, schaut Digsby überall gleich aus.

Nun haben die Entwickler eine neue Version als Alpha Version veröffentlicht. Digsby Build 50 bringt einige Änderungen gegebenüber der jetztigen Beta diese Änderungen mit:

Major Changes

Fixed several major issues with the To/From dropdowns in the IM window

Changed the default port for AIM and ICQ to 443 since it is more likely to succeed in many firewall situations

Fixed Hotmail message actions such as Delete and Mark as Read, which broke due to a protocol change

Bug Fixes

Fixed a few small bugs with the new “Offline mode” we added in the last alpha release

Fixed a bug that caused the IM window to show up blank if you received an IM from very old version of ICQ

Fixed a bug that caused MSN login to fail for a small portion of users

Fixed a bug that prevented the current LinkedIn status from showing in the infobox

Fixed a bug that caused new IM windows to ignore the “From” selection when they are created using the “New IM” dialog

Fixed a bug with the Yahoo protocol that prevented you from adding new buddies

Fixed a bug that caused Digsby login to fail very rarely (once in every 65,536 tries)

Added support for a change in the MySpace protocol that broke newsfeeds

Enhancements

Clicking on a popup notification with a “Next” button no longer closes the popup when the webpage is opened so you can look at the remaining notifications

The “Update Status” button greys out now if the tweet you type is too long

The New Tweet dialog now remembers its last position instead of opening center screen each time

Clicking the “Reply” or “Direct” buttons in the Twitter infobox will no longer close the twitter feed as long as the mouse is over it

The Twitter infobox now automatically links #hashtags

Um die Alpha Version zu nutzen, muss man nach der Installation von Digsby diese Datei in das Installationsverzeichnis (meist C:\Programme\Digsby) einfügen. Diese bewirkt, dass beim der Suche nach Updates nicht der normale Channel verwendet wird, sondern auf dem Alphazweig nach Updates geschaut wird. Solltet Ihr Probleme haben, löscht diese Datei einfach wieder und beim nächsten Start wird die „ältere“ stabile Version installiert.

Ich selbst nutze nur noch Digsby und bin bisher mit dem Alphaversionen recht gut zurecht gekommen. Hin und wieder kommt es vor, dass ICQ nicht funktioniert. Dies liegt aber nicht an Digsby sondern daran, dass ICQ von Zeit zu Zeit Änderungen am Protokoll vernimmt.
